RAILWAYMEN'S PAY

The PalniiTscon North branch of the Amalgamated Society of Jiuihvay 'Servants passed the following resolution unanimously:—"That this branch of the society as an industrial union stand-by the Engine-drivers, Cleaners, and. Firemen's Association in jury action it may decide- upon to obtain better working conditions." The branch is dissatisfied with the conditions under the new regulations, and has sent circulars to all branches asking for their co-operation. The purpose is to hold a special conference in regard to pay and working conditions. Oamaru, April 7. A- largely-attended meeting of the Oiimant branch of the A.S.U.S. discussed tli j new .scale of pay, and conditions of work proposed by th;: management, and the branch unanimously decided that lilt , new proposals were not satisfactory.
