STATE'S OBLIGATION TO EX-SERVICE
OFFICERS AND MEN
OFFICIALLY RECOGNISED By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright (Eec. April 6, 5.5 p.m.) London, April -t. The Press Bureau states that the Pensions Ministry announce that the uov. eminent has now recognised the obligation to assist from the State funds demobilised, and discharged officers end men who joined the forces after the cutweak ofwar in order that they shall, be enabled to restart in business. Assistance will either be given in periodical payments to meet current obligations like rent, insurance premiums, school fees, and mortgage obligations, or in , a lump sum for the purchase ot stock-in-trade, shop fittings, etc. Officers and men of British nationality ordinarily domiciled overseas and serving with the United Kingdom forces are eligible for the Home Governments •facilities for • higher, education at universities or agricultural offices and works i limited .number ordinarily domiciled in the United Kingdom will be assisted in courses in the Dominions overseas. Tlw Board of Education's portion of the scheme will enable qualified oversea exservice officers and .men to pursue courses at the university in the United Kingdom, while others ordinarily domiciled in the United kingdom will le assisted in their studies in overseas universities or, in exceptional cases, m foreign universitks.-Aus.-N.Z.
