MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS
SEASON TO OPEN ON APRIL 2G
Hie Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby Football Union lielcr its first meeting of the year at the Y..M.C.A. last night. Mr. '\V. F. llormg was unanimously elected chairman of the. committee. Other members present :were ; Messrs. .1. Luiidon, ,). A'. .Uillnrd,. 13.Jatkson, 11. Perry, If. Buck, W. W. Cook, A. J. O'riffiths, and E. H. Ward. The secretary, Mr. T. 11. Jones, re. ported that he had written to the Re. serves Committee asking that twelve grounds be allocated to the union for thd calling season. • It was reported tllat the Lyall Bay grounds would be available for practicu, as from April 0. The Wellington ami Poneke Clubs were granted permission lo practise on the Athletic Park from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 on Saturday, the Orientnl and.Athletic Clubs to have the rse of the ground from 3.30 onwards. In regard to the competitions for Ilia season, it was decided to play nil grades, including forth class. It. was resolved to open the seasoir. with a seven-a-side tournament on April 2u', mid that cup matches should be com-, menced on Saturday. May •1. Sub-eummitlees for the year were -rppointed as follow—Postponement—' Messrs. Hornig, Cook, and Griffiths; Transfer—Messrs. Cook and Buck; Draw, ing—Messrs. Hornig and Millard; Grounds—Messrs. J, Donovan, Jackson, Griffiths, Ward, Lundon, and Hornig; In-, suranee—Messrs. Ward, Millard, and Perry; Advertising—Messrs. Hiring, Grifiitlis, and Perry; Senior Grade—all members of Executive Committee; JuniorMr. Jackson; Third—Messrs. Russell, Doi.oyan, and Lundon; Fourth—Messrs..Perry and Coo!;; Fifth and Sixth— Mrssrs. Buck and Millard. Messrs. Griffiths, Perry, and Donovan were appointed selectors of representativeteams. Mr. Buck was elected (he union's delegate to the Referees' Appointment Board/ Mr. T. .11. Jones was re-elected secretarv of the union, but owing lo a rearrangement of tho duties of the member* of the Management Committee it was deoided that be should carry out (be work this year in an honorary capacity. Members expressed high appreciation of the very capable manner in which Mr. Joncit carried out his duties last.year, and, it was agreed that no belter man could b« found for the position.
