THE WATERSIDE DISPUTE

CONFERENCE TO BE HELD

A confcrence between representatives of the waterside employers and of the Waterside Workers' Federation is to bo held on Thursday next. This conference is the result of tho negotiations that have been proceeding between the parties during recent weeks. The question for the consideration of the' conference is the demand made by the waterside workers for increased wages, in consideration of the rising cost of living. The conferchce will consist of five delegates from each side, with tho Conciliation Commissioner (Mr. W. Newton) as chairman. The Conciliation Commissioner will take the chair in an unofficial capacity. Tho watersido workers have not accepted the suggestion that the dispute should be referred to the Arbitration Court.
