ABOUT DOGS
A NUISANCE IN A 'CITY.
Thirteen summonses are.to be served to-day by the Chief Inspector (Mr. James Doyle) on owners of unregistered doss in Wellington.. The nuisance of unregistered dogs in the city is a continual one, and it is hoped that, the warning thus given will induce others who may have neglected their duty to "pay up and look cheerful." A petition against the keeping of strav dogs in Qiq corporation yards has been presented ;to the By-laws < Committee of the City- Council, urging that the dogs should be kept elsewhere or- that means should •be taken of preventing the eternal clamour they make, particularly during. the hours that most people devote to sleep. In the, course of his annual Teport for 1915 the Chief City'lnspector, writing on the: subject of'.dogs, said:— "I do not think that dog 3, registered or not, should bo permitted tq be at largo in the streets. They serve no useful purpose, they are often a danger to traffic, and in many other ways they are highly objectionable." • The committee is to report on the petition at the next.meeting of the council.
