ANZAC LINKS WITH FRANCE
FELICITATIONS AT BANQUET TO GENERAL PAU. (Eeo. March 26, 0.5 a.m.) London, March 24. Mr. Andrew Fisher, Australian High Commissioner,, banqueted Geueral Pau, head of the French Mission, at Australia House. Mr. Fisher,' in proposiug the toast of the Mission, hoped that similar missions from other countries would go to Australia, following the French example.' General Birdwood paid a tribute to French comradeship with the Australians at Gallipoli. General Pan, responding, passed a touching eulogy on tho Australians who died for France. They were strong, energetic soldiers, and, like the French, fought for tho glory of their country and the liberty of the world. Their graves create links between Australia and France 'which would never be broken. Lord Bryce proposed the toast of Freuce. M. • Cambon responded—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
