LYALL BAY
THE VIEW FHOM THE PAEADE. It hus been pointed out from time to tirao that, in erecting tlie bathing sheds along the bench close to. tho.concrete retuining:wall nt Lynll Buy the City Council is gradually but surely shutting out nil view of the bench from the Parade. Tho sheds now extend from the end of Oncpu Road to a point a quarter of a lnilo alone the beach, and the only views of the beach and breakers for strollers along tho Parade aro the glimpses obtainable between the sheds. This gradual growth of small bathing sheds and Surf Club houses has been the outcome of a policy ■ dictated by economy, but it is admitted that one day there will have to 1)0 ii clearance- made,, and a bin modern bathing pavilion erected si hi i'mr to those in the big seaside places of America. The City Engineer (Mr. W. H. Morton) ie well aware of tho situation, and may bo able to gather datit on tho, subject during his coming trip, which may- ono day be of service, to AVellington as far as bathing facilities nt Lyall J3ay aro concerned.
