WATER POWER FOR SOUTH CANTERBURY
PROTEST AGAINST GOVERNMENT DELAY. By Teleuranli-Pross Association. Timaru, March 24. The. Minister and the Public Works Department have several times promised Mr. J. Craigie, M.P., and the Timaru Borough Council .that electric power from Luke Coleridge would lie supplied to South Canterbury after tho war. The council to-night re'ceifcd a letter from the Department indilating that nothing can bo undertaken in this direction. No contract could be entered into at present as it was impossible to say when material would be available or estimate the cost, of tho material and labour when, available. Tho council resolved to leave no stone unturned to keep the Department to its promises.
