TOWN PLANNING
Mr. T. Brindlo lead a paper on town planning before tho Wellington Social Democratic Party in tho Alexandra Hall last night. He said that tho housing conditions of the workers were almost uniformly unsatisfactory. Bad housing had a directly detrimental effect on the health and physique of the nation and on the capacity for work ;i|id enjoyment of the individual citizens. It was wasteful of health, happiness mid life. The modern students of town planning were seeking to reform the world by improving tho environment of the people, and they represented the only body, outside the ranks of the Socialists, who wen! trying conscientiously to raise the standard of living among the people. Mr. Brindle explained f-;ome of the reforms that the town planners hoped to achieve. Ho BhowDcl some interesting lantern slides in illustration of his remarks.
