MIRAMAR GOLF CLUB
OPENING. DAY. The Miramar Golf Club opened its 6«ison on Saturday with a mixed foursomo bogey handicap. The weather was excellent, the links wore in good order for play, although they will bo improved when the rains come, and thore was a good attendance of players taking part in the match.
During the afternoon there was tea it, the clubhouse for players and visitors, and tho fnnotion was a deal more happy than those openings which the dub has held during the war years. It happens that, this is one of the sports ehibs which has had a particularly tryIng time, having lost so many of its liioinbeis by their going oh war service. Finances have been embarrassed in coneequeiice, and perhaps the players romaining have, not had the same joy in tho same as they had in other limes. Sk. J. P. Firth, president of the club, made a short speeoh to mark the occasion, and he also presented the trophies won during last season to the winners of them.
The best cards handed in at the end o{ the day were those of Miss Withers and Proud, and Miss Wheeler and C. W. Palmer, who tie for first place with a score cf "two down."
The trophy winners were as follow.— Senior championship, Mr. G. Richmond; junior championship, Mr. A. A. Stic'ibury. Ladies' . championships , : Senior, Miss Otambrill; Miss Jt'Clitre. Ladies' record acore, Jliss Gam-brill. Taylor Cup, Mr. S. Gainbrill. Doughty Memorial Cup, Messrs. L. C. Hales and A.-Young.
