Auckland, March 21. _ In regard to tho arrival of tho Maori Pioneer Battalion, the Maypr has received tho following telegram trom tho Minister of Defence-.-"Advice was received yesterday that the Westmoreland had sailed from Colon on March 15 for Auckland, whero sha is now duo on April J, one week earlier than anticipated. Alter fully considering Iho mailer it has been found impracticable lo send the \\ estmoreland to Gisborno, and sho will therefore dciiiiitely make Auckland her poit of call. If it is possiblo to arrange for tlio Hast Coast Maoris to he sent by,a coastal steamer' from Auckland to bmborne. I will endeavour to arrango accordingly."
