With this illformation, the Minister will bo able to proceed with more-certainty in _ regard to land purchases. Many properties are at present .under offer to the Government, init until something is known of the numbers of men likely lo bo offering as settlers on thorn the Government cannot. go very far ahead of immediate requirements. It would manifestly be nowise for the Government to buy land for which it might ultimately have 110 use. Upon the class of'farming, the man is ready to undertake will depend the class of land to be purchased. And before the man can get land at all he must bo able to satisfy the Land, Board that 'lie has knowledge sufficient to enable him In carry on such farming operations as are suited to Hie piece of land for which he is nppl.ving.
