Tlie annual ladies' race of tho Port Nicholson Yacht Club is- to bo sailed ttwiay. Tho following yachts havo : entered Bona, Ailsa, Galatea, Tolanthe; Venus, fiawone, and Miru. -These yachts.; will be sailed throughout by lady meirir bers of the cliib, and as there are some, skilled helmswomon amongst them very great intovest is being shown in the rc-. suit. The committee has decided that fcr the convenience of tho yachts starting in the races the announcements re handicaps shall bs made by a series of flags flown from a pole rxar tho notico board at the Boat Harbour. Should light' weather 'handicaps be adopted one flag will be flown, moderate weather two flasg, and heavy weather three flags.' The cup which has been given to the club by the executors of the late Mr. .4. 11. Turnbull has 'been, received. This cup is a very fine solid silver cup; valued' at .forty guineas. It was won by the lalo Mr. Turnbull with the yacht Hona in 1895 for the yacht championship of New Zealand, in her class. This cup will be a perpetual challenge cup to be raced for by the yachts of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club.' Hereafter it will be known as the Alexander Turnbull Memorial Cup, and will serve to, keep fresh in the' minds of thoso interested in yachting the memory of one of the finest sportsmen ever, connected with yachting in 'Wellington.
