FREEZING WORKS HANDS
DISSATISFACTION WITH WAGES . AND CONDITIONS. By Telegraph.—Preso Association. Auckland, March 20. A further expression of dissatisfaction with the wages paid to freezing works hands, the. first intimation of which was reported from Horotiu yesterday, was made at the Westfield works to-day, when a. section of men employed in loading meat for ail overseas vessel struck forhißlier wages and improved conditions. In the afternoou a meeting of employees was hold, when it w;\b explained that the strikers were not supported by the Freezing. 'Works' Employees' Federation, and tlioy were advised to resume work and leave their dispute to the conference in Wellington next monj;h. It is therefore anticipated that thar will resume tomorrow. It is .understood that two delegates from the Southdown Works, who attended the meeting, gave an assurance that the Soutlulown . men had agreed to continue working on the present terms and leave the settlement to the conference. The men at Horotui have also agreed to resume pending the conference.
