DIFFERENCES NOT ADJUSTED YET. By Telegraph—Press Association, Waihi, March 19. The mission hero of Mr. Giles, Conciliation Commissioner, to adjust the differences existing between the Miners' Urion and tho eight lilen who had withdrawn from tho union has, in tlio main, not been successful. Mr. Giles yesterday afternoon again interviewed tlie eight men with tlio object of inducing them to join, tho men 'having at a former interview promised to give the patter their earnost consideration, provided a mass meeting of the union was held, and a true statement of the position laid before it. The meeting was held, and the position made clear, and resulted in the president and secretary intimating tho.t they would tender their resignations in consequence of bavins withheld from the previous union meeting the information that they and tho rest of the delegates to tho conference vith the mining companies had agreed 1o exemption of the inen who were standing out. At yesterday's interviow with tlio men, the question was in this way explained by Mr. Giles, but the men, with one exception, said that they had definitely decided to stand by their right to be exempted, and refused to join. Mr. Giles then interviewed tho union executive, and plnced the decision of the wen beforo it. The executive informed Mr. Qiles Wiat the •matter would now Te?t with tho Federation of Labour. Mr. Giles expressed regret that 'after tho union had conformed with t.he !cqucst of the men standing out, no effect had been given to their promise to earnestly consider the proposal to become members of tho union.

The president and secretary of the union havo placed their resignations in tho hands of the executive, and nominations for thoir successors will 'bo received at a meeting of tlio union on Friday. Mr. Giles returned to Auckland this morning,
