"GERMANY MUST PAY!"
VIEW OF THE PEIMB MINISTER, About a fortnight ago, Mr. W. H. Field, M.P., cabled to tho Eight Hon. W.'F. Massey in England, expressing the decided opinion that Germany should be made to pay the full cost of the war. Yesterday Mr. Field received the following reply from Air. Mafsey, who was in Paris at the time of sending:— "My opinion i? that, as Germany was responsible for the war, Germany must be compelled to pay every sovereign possible for us to collect. A commission of financial experts is now dealing with tho question, and their report will give us a reliable indication of Germany's ability to pay."
Lieutenant-Colonel Holderness has returned to Hastings after an absence of three years at the war, where ho fought wi':h the Now Zealand Expeditionary Forces. Ho woe met by tho Mayor (Mr. HimsonX who welcomed him on behalf of the citizens, whilst Mr. E. H. Williams greeted him on bohalf of the legal profession, of which ho is a, member.
