BOARD OF TRADE
BUSINESS IN AUCKLAND. The Bcmvd of Trade is at present making 'inquiries in Auckland relative to several industries, and .trill probably he occupied there for about ten days. Representations have'been made-to the. board by the Tanners' Union :about the exploitation of potatoes; while another matter on which it. has been; consulted is the restrictions on the* export' of hides. On Saturday members of the board conferred with tho local Timber Advisory Committee respecting tho working of the timber regulations, while among the busino.B before the board ; this week is the important question of the wheat slippy. A conference is to be held with boot manufacturers on the subject of the standardisation of boots, and representative of- the tanners intend to wait upon the board regarding the price of leather. The scheme relative to the standardisation of boots is in the final stages says the chairman, Jir. W. Gi M'Donald, and should be soon ready for trying out.
