OFFICERS' PAY
THE RECENT INCREASES.
In a report to tho Minister of Defenoe, General Richardson (commanding ths New Zealand troops in tho United Kingdom) mentions that tho pay of officers has been increased as from April 1 of ast year, and the scale authorised has, lie behoves, given general satisfaction. A few anomalies will be referred to tlio Defence authorities in New Zealand The pay of officers of the N.Z EF. other than officers of tho R.N.Z.A. and the N.A SC.) as from April 1 last, is on the following scale:— Hate per Annum, r, , , Married. C 530 .«75 W aln , ; ■■■■ £iW J3GS Lieutenant and 2nd Lieutenant ,£-320 i 265 -Medical, dental, and 1 veterinary officers receive an additional allowance of Ilk per day if they were already in rel ceipt of the allowance when tho new scale was announced. The allowance is not made in the case of now appointments. An amount of 3s. a day of the pay of married officers is deferred, but mar be allotted. This deferred pay, allotted b> the wife, takes the placo of the Feparation allowance of 3s. a dav that has been payable since April last to (he wife of a lieutenant or second lieutenant.
