The Federation of Sinister Painters of New Zealand' held their conference in Wellington. Tha delegates present were: Messrs. Buckniaster (Wellington), Veils (Wellington), Birch - (Auckland), Hott (Wanganuil, .Lxton (Wellington), Gapes (Wellingtoiii, Godber (Wellington), (Hading (Wellington), Cowley (Wellington), Luminas (Christchurch), Lee (Chnstohurchl, "Martin (Wellington). "That the matter of model specifications be left in the hands of the Christchurch Committee to complete and when complete to send to the executive tor further consideration." "That, this federation ask the support of the New Zealand Institute of.Architects the- Town-Planning Commission, and'the Builders and Contractors' Federation of New Zealand, to join us m approaching the Health .Department with a view to having the future use of scrim in the Dominion made illegal." "That the incoming Parliamentary Committee be- instructed' to meet the Parliamentary Committee of the Master Plumbers' Association in conference to discuss the matters of the Lien Act ana' accident insurance under the-Scaffolding Act, to bring down recommendations to the executive n.s soon* as possible, fco that the necessary amendments may he expedited." Ration, of the Repatriation Department, addressed the conference on matters connected with the re-employ-ment of returned men. | , By resolution, the conference pledged' its 'members td reinstate all a'cturned men. in their former positions, and give preference of employment to' returned soldiers wherever possible. ft was unanimously decided to issue a trade journal, qiiiirte'rly. It was decided that tha headquarters of the federation would be in Auckland for the ensuing year, and the election of officers resulted as follows-.—President, Sir. Phil. T. Birch; vice-president, Jrr. 51. J. Bennett; auditor, Mr.- G. Bradsliaw; secretary. Sir. W. Taylor;' treasurer, Sir. •!. Hill; committee, Messrs. Tapper, Glading, and Kerkiii; i'arliamentarv Committee (stationed in Wellington), Messrs. T. A. "Wells, W. Xicol, and G. Godber. A resolution was passed expressing the federation's heartfelt, thanks to the Allies for tho successful termination of hostilities. A vote of thafiks to the retiring officers was passed, and the incoming president was installed in his office by the retiring president, Sir. W. Nicol. A smoke concert was tendered to Hie delegates,. It was well attended, and a very pleasant evening was spent.
