e I AND THE PLASTERERS' DISPUTE. Speaking in regard to the plasterers' dispute in connection with the Parliamentary Buildings Mr. R. Burton, secretarv of tlw Plasterers' Union, outlined then osilion since last Mondays conference with the employers. At that conference he stales, the employers agreed to pav the local men the if. per hour they had demanded, but the union delegates desired the liberty of working anywhere at the same rate. The employers desired to bind all the men to resume work at the Parliamentary Buildings, No agreement was arrived at, as the union delegates had no poiver to accept, but they stated that the matter would bo placed before the men affected, who would please, themselves individually as to what course they adopted. .The offer was put before them on VTnlne?dny, when nothing definite, was disclosed by them. Some of the men appeared at the Parliamentary Buildings on Thursday, but were told fh'cv could not resume work uutil next Monday, owing to the dearth of plasterers' labourers. Some of the men concerned have- started work elsewhere. Mr. Burton states that before the last conference the employers endeavoured to obtain plasterers from Auckland. Christchurch, and Dnnedin, offering them 2?. per hour, a lon- job. and the payment of faros. To various advertisements they received no response.
