AGREEMENT AT WAIROA FREEZING WORKS. Sy Teleuraph-T , -"-" Association. Wairoa, March 15. The strike at Hie freezing works has ended. The men were receiving Iβ. 7id. per lionr, plus 5 per cent, of the total wages, and demanded Is. Od. per hour. As the award does not terminate till March 31 the chairman of the company offered to pay the difference o»t of his own pocket. Tin's the men refused on Wednesday,'and Thursday's killing was placed in the freezer by the office staff and the meat owners. When the slaughtermen discovered this they also struck. Yesterday morning a. mass meeting of the employees asked Hie chamber hands to accept Iβ. ( Jd. per hour plus the 5 per cent., which was agreed to, and work was resumed.
