BUILDERS' LABOURERS

DEMANDS FOE INCREASED WAGES. The Wellington Builders' and GeneralLabourers' Industrial Union has filed in the' Arbitration Court new \vagce demands "based upon the increase disclosed in the cost of living by the Government Statistician's report." The award at present provides for the payment of a war bonus of 10 per cent, on wages, but the'union now asks that the clause relating to bonus be deleted qnd that an increased flat rate be granted. The wages asked for now are as tollov:—Labourers, engaged in tho actual construction of scaffolds, 2s. per hour: others, Is.' IOW. per hour. The present rates are Is. id. and Is. 3d., plus bonus.
