THE COAL DISPUTE

CONFERENCE TO MEET TO-MORROW There has been no nW development in the coal dispute, pending a conference of the parties to-morrow. Representatives of the Coalownere' Association and the Miners' Federation are to meet in ■ Wellington for further discussion of the matters in.dispute. The conference was to have been- held to-day, but all the delegates will cot be able to assemble bsfore to-morrow. The conference is being held at the suggestion 4 of the Government, and the Minister for Mines (Hon. Wi D. S. MacDonald) and the Minister for Labour (Hon. W. H. Hemes) will be prepared to assist in forwarding- a settlement. The miners' unions, in the meantime, appear to have suspended action, and work ia reported to he, proceeding normally at the mines.
