The Pioneer Club roams looked very bright ami pretty' on Saturday afternoon, when the club members gave an "at home" to farewell Mrs. .Tamw Mackenzie, who is leaving for a visit )o Kngiatui shortly. Theiro were quantities of lovelv (lowers, phlox, asters, lilies, and byde'rangeas most., tastefully arranged. Lady Stout, president, received the guests, and" on behalf of the. members piesent presented Mrs. Mackenzie with a charming bouquet of roses and gypsophila. and wished her bon voyage. She pointed out. that tho guest of honour had been a nipmber of the club for many yen's, was a vice-president, and had served on the committee for two terms; also as a member of the House Committee"shc had been very active, and had always taken a great interest in its welfare. Mrs. Mackenzie suitably replied. Miss Hazel Fuller sang two songs very sweetly, "The Captivo Maid' 1 and "Down in the Forest," and Miss Mary Butlco' recited. Her first .selection, "A Wish," duick :i ,perGount'note, and she also gave Kiifherine's speech from the "Taming of the Shrew," and a clever little dialogue between an Englishman and an "Amurican". girl. Afternoon ten was s.-rved, and the singing of the National Anthem brought a very pleasant afternoon to n close. Miss Pulnam played the accompaniments. A very pretty wedding in which widespread interest was taken was solemnised in St. Mnrv's Church, Gernldine, by the Rev. Canon Hamilton, on Tuesday, when Mr. J. W.
