INFLUENZA
HUGE NUMBER OF CASES IN JAPAN New York, March 6. The New York "World's" correspondent i at Tokio states that the Home Department has announced that there were ten million influenza cases in Japan during the last three months of 1918.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE EPIDEMIC IN AUSTRALIA. Melbourne, March 8. Five additional deaths from influenza are reported.—Press Assn. - -SIDNEY AND MELBOURNE COMPARED. (Rec. March 9, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, March 8. 1 One. death from intiueuza is reported, bringing the total number to date up to twenty. There -has been a tendency since the wet spells of weather started and the restrictions were removed, to an increase in tho number of cases, but not to a very appreciable extent. The majority are not of a serious taype. In Victoria there were five deaths yesterday, making a total of 468 to date, \ritn 1055 patients in hospital. Lately there has been a steady decrease in the number of new cases—Press Assn.
