BRITISH SUPPLY VOTE
BIG DROP IN THE ESTIMATES £73,000,000 FOR PENSIONS By Telegraph-Press Association- Copyrlsht London, March G. 11 the House of Commons I he. vote of Supply for was carried. Mr. S. Baldwin (Financial Secretary) pointed out that tho current year s estimates, ,£405,000,000, represented' a decrease of ,£240.000,000, compared with last year. The principal items are ,£73,000,000 for pensions, and X 60,000,000 for railway subsidy. The following are the increases: £3,500,000 for public 'building.-!, £20,000,000 for education,, and for roads repair. Mr. Adamson urged increased salaries for members of the House of Commons, and also free railway passes. Tho Labour members had considerable hardships. Sinco the salaries wero fixed in 1911 the cost of living had risen 120 per cent. Mr. Bonar Ltnv said tho Government would not agree to increased salaries.
