SEAMEN'S VOTES
LACK OP PROVISION ALLEGED.
By Telesrrap'fl.--Fresß Association. Diinedin, March 6. Complaint is made by the secretary of the local branch of the Seamen's Union regarding the provision for eeanien votimr on the licensing question next month. He stated that no seaman could vote unless he was in port on the day of the poll, and that in consequence about 4000 men would be unable to vote. - The men could obtain: rights of absent voters, but this was useless to men unable to say where they were likely to be on the day Of the poll. His union considered that every member of a ship's crew, sailing under New Zealand articles should hare an opportunity to vote, and that both tin trade and the prohibitionists should urge the Government to take steps to see justice done.
