A very enthusiastic meeting was held last night in Moore's Hall, Johnsonvillo, when Messrs. Blake and Sim, both returned soldiers, spoke on tho relationship of the liquor traffic to national efficiency. Tho speakers outlined the attitude of (ho N.Z. Alliance towards the. soldier, and contended that the same was consistent with the fundamental principles of democracy. The letter circulated to tho overseas troops by the New Zealand Alliance and resolutions which have been passed by the Returned' Soldiers' and Sailors' imperial League of Australia in favour of prohibition' worn read. Tho speakers contested that the liquor traffic was antagonistic to the satisfactory working of the repatriation scheme, and urged that it' was necessary to creato an atmosphere which would prove most conducive to tho sons of New Zealand as they gravitate homeward. Several other aspects of tho question were dealt with, and the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the speakers. Mr. Moore occupied the chair.
