$ Members of the Star Boating Club have b»en engaged of lata in rowing off tho "trial fours." In the first round Pollock (stroke), Brown, Moss, and Wnkelin defeated Galvin (stroke), Eobb, Herd, and Jaques by one. and a half lengths. Pollock got im excellent start, and maintained his lead all through. In the next heat Diehl'(stroke), Oborn, Herd, and Markman proved too good for Wakelin (stroke), Gamble, Martin, and Hunt. Coatee and Montgomery drew byes. In tho second round Montgomery (stroke), Kiley, Comrie, and Gasquoino won after ii hard race from Coates (stroke), Carter, Walker, and Higgins. The next heat was eagerly looked forward to. In this Diehl rowed Pollook, the latter rowing a substitute "two." Diehl's crew put up a good performance, winning by a longth and a half, and will contest the final with Montgomery. Crews for the "president's fours"'have now been selected, and are ns ■under:— Mitchell (stroke), Eobb, Martin, . and Carter; Cowles (stroke), Gamble; Chatfield, Jaques; Galvin (stroke), Herd, Noleon, Higgins; Wakelin (stroke, Brown, Gnsquoine, Pringle; Coates (stroke), Montgomery, Campbell, Simm; Diehl (stroke), Oborn, J. E. Herd, Markman.
