DELAY EXPLAINED. (Rec. March 5, 1.15 a.m.) Washington, March 3. The delay in the return of. the American troops has been criticised. Mr. N. D. Baker (United States Secretary of War) explains that the British Government withdrew the ships in order to dispatch the Australasian nnd Canadian troops homeward in ' yiew of' their long service.—Aue.-N.Z.
