March 2, 5.5 p.m.) London, February 26. Fresh outbreaks of influenza are constantly reported in ail parts of the United Kingdom. The death-rate has trebled in all the large towns. A conference of medical experts discussed the prevention of influenza, but greatly dixered regarding the measures j to be adopted. ,' It is generally considered that much research is needed. It is reported that three Army doctors, including Captain Connor, of Australia, have discovered the causative germ. One of the three, Major Gibson, of the Royal Army Medical Corps, himself caught the influenza, and died a victim of his own mesearch — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
