GERMAN NAVAL SURRENDER

SHOWN IN PICTUEES. Five thousand feet of film, taken In tho Firth of Forth and Scapa l'iow, ot the German naval surrender, and secured for Australasia _\>y Messrs. J. and N. Tait, were exhibited privately at tho King's Theatre on Tuesday, before an audience which included Captain HallThompson -(Naval Adviser), Messrs.'' T. Forsyth (chairman of the Education Board), members of the Technical School Board, and Wellington Education Board, staff officers, and heads' of Government Departments. The picture, which had to he shown without sub-titles, shows the great German fleet eteaming into British waters,; shepherded by our destroyers and light cruisers; the , actual hoarding of some of tho German ships by small units of our naval, men; ami tho long procession of German 'destroyers' and Üboats coming to an anchor in the Firth of Forth (in which picture the great railway bridge, with ite lacework superstructure, forms a striking feature in the background). There are striking views of apparently acTes of submarines, caught at. last after their nefarious careers, by tlio overwhelming ppwer and resources of the Allies,, One very instructive view is that of a'mystery ship/ Here is, apparently, a peaceful merchantman, with" nothing to .indicate any measure of offence, with a crew in the garb common, to the ocean tramp.' Suddenly the crew springs into activity, a peaceful dpck-house collapses as by mngic. disclosing a snarling 6-inch gun, with her crew- already busy at the broech. In a few seconds she is seen' belching forth shells at an appalling jate of speed. The order to cease fire is given, and in 'three of four seconds the deck-house.has resumed its 'harmless'aspect, and tho crew once.more 101 l TOitnd the deck as men of praoe. This demonstration if the type of vessel which sent so many U-boats to their dnom is wonderfully " interesting. The German naval surrender pictures are to be shown in Wellington shortly.
