SIXTEENTH ANNUAL MEETING. The sixteenth annual meeting of members of the Wellington Young Men's Christian Association was hold in the rooms, Willis Street, last evening. The president (Mr. C. M. Luke) occupied the chair, and there was a fair number of members present. The chairman referred to tho fact that the war had ended, and spoke very feelingly in reference to the loss they had sustained in the death of Mr. W. C. Badden (a director) and" Mr. A. E. Smith (acting general secretary). The annual report, which was read by Mr. H. C. South, stated that the membership of the association continued to increase, although no special campaign was held during- the year. The present financial membership' was as follows:— Senior, 796; boys' department, 264; total, 1060. This was 129 more than at the.end of the previous year, and was also tho largest number in the association's history. Fees received amounted to .£O9l 16s. 6d. Thanks to the generosity of the friends of the association, the year ended with a credit balance. Membership fees, sustaining subscriptions, and donations showed an increase of ii3sl os. Id. over the previous year's figures. The total receipts from all sources amounted to ;£7659 6s. lid., and the capital account stood at ,£16,230 .Is. lid. The balance-sheet was read by tho treasurer (Mr. C. S, Falconer), and showed a profit on the year's working of M 105. 2d. Mr. T. I'orsyth, in seconding the adoption of the report, spoke in appreciative terms of tho work of the treasurer. , The following were nominated and elected, to fill vacancies <.n the board of directors:—Messrs. H. W. Kersley, H. C. Sonth, W. Campbell, It. Brown, A. P. Smith, C. S. Falconer, G. M'Kay. The chairman moved a motion expressing the meeting's best thanks to the Press for the assistance given during the year.
Motions of thanks wort also passed to the acting general secretary (Mr. S. G. G'rosswell), and ofiico staff, Mr. Tracoy (physical instructor), Miss Frnser (matron), and dining-room etaff, tho caretakers (Mr. and Mrs. Stephenson). The Hon. J. G. W. Aitken was appointed life honorary president of the association, amid applause. Votes of thanks to tho chair, the treasurer, and minute secretary (Mr. South) brought the meeting to a close.
