NEWSPAPER PROPRIETOR'S ASSOCIATION
. ELECTION, OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting of the Newspaper Proprietors' Association was continued yesterday. .. Consideration was given to the Advprtieing Committee's report and other matters affecting the business side of the newspapers, •The chairman (Mr. Selig) referred to the forthcoming World's Press Congress,'to be held in Sydney in November next. The • question of representation from this association was deferred until fuller information is to hand. Mr, Selig was ire-elected president. Mr. Gilmour made eulogistic references to the splendid services rendered, by Mj , . Selig to the association during the eleven yeare ho liad occupied the office.of president.' The other officers elected were:—Vicepresident, Mα , . J, Coombe; executive,) Messrs. Cecil Leys, H. Horton, C. Earlr,' L. Blundell, T. C. List, V. Pirani,, E. Abbey Jones, and R. Bell; advertising committee, Messrs. P. Selig, J. Coonvbe, E. Abbey Jones, W. C. Weston, W. J. Blundell, and G. C. Codlin; postal and parliamentary committee, Messrs. L. Blundell, C. Earlo, G. Dixon, and F. Pirani; labour arid awards committee, Messrs. F. Pirani, P. Bond, B. Bell,'A: Sando, and IV. C. Weston; seciretary and trensii.ver, Mr. L. J. Berry; auditor, Mr. I J. Jackman. Messrs,./ Seymour and Curtayne waited upon the association in the interests of the work of the Returned Soldiers' Association, and submitted information in I iregard to their proposed repatriation scheme, and asked for the support of the newspaper proprietors. In reply to the' deputation, Mr. Selig Mtpresspd Hio thanks of the association for their attendance and their sympathy of the proprietors with the objects of the I scheme.
Messrs. George Penwick and P. Pirnni, two of tlie Press delegates who recently visited England and France, have consented, to deliver addresses dealing with the tour and the information gathered en route. The audience will consist of the visiting delegates to the conferences of the Newspaper Proprietors', Press, and -..Master Printers' Associations and the staffs, or all Wellington, newspaper and printing offices. Tickets will be issued gratis by the various proprietors. The lecture will lie illustrated with limelight, views. The Masonic Hall, Boulcott Street, has been engaged for the gathering, which is timed, to coinmenco at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
