NO IMMEDIATE DECEEASE. ' There is no early probability of a decrease in railway.freights, which were increased substantially fmring the war period. The Minister of Hallways (the Hon. W. H. Hemes), answering a question on this point, stated that the Bailway. Department would not be able to consider the removal of additional charges imposed during the war until the extent of the increases to be made in wages had teen ascertained. All branches of railway workers were asking for improved pay and conditions, and the total amount of the concessions asked for wag very large indeed. The Department must know what its future expenditure was goinjj to be before it parted with any portion of its present revenue.
