HAWKE'S BAY
Te..Eeliunga and Rua Eoa -cheese factories have between them 80 suppliers. A pasteurising plant lias, been put in at the former place, and one is being installed at Eua. Roa.'During the past month 1,295,5031b,' of milk was received at To Eehunga factory and Gi0,9591b. at Eua Boa. From the main factory 793 cheese were sent to the cool stores and 387 from Rtm Eon, whilo 2.571b. of clieeso wero manufactured from lib. of butterfat at Te Eehunga and 2.551b. at Eua Eoa. Of milk 9.771b. were used in making lib. of cheese at Te Eehunga and 9.821b. milk were similarly used in tho supporting factory. It is stated tliat Mr. G. E. Venables, who unsuccessfully contested the Napier seat at the last Parliamentary elections, is more than likely to again oppose Mr. ,T. Vigor Brown, M.P., at the next general elections.
According to Hie latest official returns the acreage o£ freehold occupied by the owners in Hawke's Bay is 2,513,847. Of the land Icnsed 200,867 acres are from private owners. 160,991 acrc3 from public bodies, and 701,814 acres from Maoris.
