POOD STOCKS IN BRITAIN
- FALL IN PRICES EXPECTED. London, Februairy 19. Mr. G. H. Roberts the Food Controller, states that the food stocks in the country, which are mainly held by the Ministry of Food and which are now being released, include 96,700 tons of beef and mutton, 34,500 tons of canned meat, fi4,GOO tons of bacon, 16,000 tons of cheese (in addition to large stooks in New Zealand which will not reach England until June), 12,400 tons of butter, ample. supplies of margarine 364,000 tons of SJgar, and 15,C00 tons ot tea. No new ration books are being printed. It may be necessary to control meat and butter till after the present books are exhausted on April 30. It is anticipated that next month will show an appreciable fall in food prices.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
