The Wanganui Meeting will be con-, eluded to-day. In the Wanganui Slakes, which is the principal handicap of the iday, the placed horses in the Cup are again to meet. Dusky Eve lias been raised a stone, and Depredation 71b. Of the pair the Cup winner reads attractive-, ly, and he will doubtless start favourite, with the runner-up second choice on the machine. This pair were so far in front a quarter of~a mile from home in the Clip that, despite their increased poundage, they are botli likely to give good accounts of themselves to-day. Bonnie Maid, who finished behind the placed horses, had not liad a race for two months, so she should do a lot better today. She is,to be .ridden by B. Deeley, as 11. Gray cannot get down to tho weight. Menelaus meets Dusky Eve on 121b, and Depredation on 51b. better terms, and as he looked above himself before the Cup the race n:ay have worked sufficient improvement in him to malto the position interesting for tho others. In the open sprint event, Silver Link, who scored in the Flying Handicap on Thursday, has only been raised 111b., making her weight 9st. 311)., and she is sure to bo a good favourite to-day. BoPeep meets her-on 111b. better terms,- and Inali on 331b. better teuns. Birkelivale was unlucky on the opening day, as his saddle slipped back just after the start, and his rider was unable to get the best out of him. Another horse expect/d to improve considerably on the first day's form is Simonides. The Welcome Stakes winner has the. luxurious impost of Gst. 121b. Rude, who won the mile, event on the opening day, has not been paid up "for in the Autumn Handicap, but Form Up, who made all the running in the Cup,, and was responsible for the record time hoisted, is engaged with Bst. 10! h. to carry. He will be ridden by B. Deoiey, while H. Gray will take the mount on Hendra, who finished thinpon the opening day. Tigritiya will be ridden by R. Reed, and, though she has been raised Gib., she should be again in a place. llobur got a very bad passage on 'TWcdny in the first part of her race, aud niay do a lot better, to-day First Line'is not a very big horse, and a rise of 151b. may affect him to-day. Still, he jlimped so well in his first day's | effort that the public are sure to. fancy him to-day. Two fresh horses in Zola and Want can be looked for to give good exhibitions. In the mile Hack Race the public will likely select Papanui to carry their investments, for tlie Awapuni gelding was in front all the way on Thursday, and, after resisting several challenges from tho five furlong post onwards lie only succumbed in tlie last few strides to the seasoned Cooing. Paddington Green finished very fast on tho opening day, as did Perfect Day. First Salute has Gib. less than he carried on Thursday, and this may enable him to secure a prominent position at the finish. Ainythas looked a winner of tho Juvenile Handicap on the first day, but his rider could not control him on tho homo turn. With C. Price in the saddle to-day ho is likely to go out a shortpriced favourite. Tho Absurd colt, Golden Bubble, should be better for his race on Thursday, and so should Negligee, who finished just behind Bonny Briar. Robekah 6corod in such hollow fashion in tho Petro Handicap that Mr. Corry's
mare will enjoy a large measure oI support in tho Matarawa Hack Handicap. Hurry Up and Hallow are fresh horses, and Borealis, after contesting the Jackson Stakes on Thursday, is now relegated to hack class, in which ho should be well able to hold his own.
