MANAWATU NOTES
. Mr. William Morrison, sn old and respected resident of the Kangitikei district, died at Fern Plats, Marton, last week.. He was born in Dounc, Perthshire, Scotland,, in 1853, and came to New Zealand with his parents- in 1857. For many years he was engaged in farming, and was an enthusiastic rifle shot and howler. He is survived by his widow nnd four e'oiis,.' one of the latter being at'present with the New Zealand Expeditionary -Forwi in Egypt. Mr. A. Greenfield, Stipendiary Magistrate at Palnierston North, a few years aj?o. who has been a resident of Nelson since his retirement from the bench, celebrated his ninetieth birthday a few days ago. Sir. 11. C. Bisliop, who is ah present managing the Masterton Friendly Societios' Dispensary, has been appointed mannger to the> Pnlmerslon North United Friendly Societies' Dispensary, vice Sfr. L. G. Godfrey, who has resigned from the position to enter into business on hie own account nt Tauniarunui.
' 'Phq Kim'tea .County Council, having a position open for a rangor and dog-tax collector, has decided to apply to the Repatriation. Board, and offer the appointment to a soldier.
A fair amount of grass seeding is going on this year in Apiti and the surromidijiK districts. The seed is- well up to the average.
