With respect to the Wairarapa hydroelectric scheme it is stated that the Woiohi.p.e Stream is capable.of providing MOO h.p., sufficient for the present requirements of the district, and also for eomo years to come. The work of providing hydro-electric power could, it is believed, be completed in eighteen months. -
The.Farmers' Union is making an exhibit at the Mnsterton Show of the best method of transplanting gum plants. The gums shown are a new species to the Wairarapa. Mr. I). Hebeuton is also endeavouring to have a specimen of the "Kaiser" of noxious weeds, called "!antjina," on- view, so as to .warn farmers against bringing this noxious weed as a flowering shrub.
A yield of, 105 bushels' of oats to the acre, nnd in other portions 85 bushels to the nerp. has been obtained from the property of Mr. J. Bidwill.
Eels are very plentiful in the Pahiatiia streams just now. It is reported th/it four meu landed fifty last night in the Jfangatninoka.' Two Pahiatua school boys also secured some in a creek/one of which was three and a half feet long and scaled nearly nine pounds.
Since 'shearing started' in the Mnrtinboroujrh district one carrier ling conveyed from various stations with his traction plant, and trucked at Featherstoii, upwards of-4500 bales of wool.
