TEACHERS SALARIES
CONCESSIONS TO UNCERTIFICATED WAR SERVICE MEN. Under Hie regulations relating to teachers' salaries, >\ deduction of 10 per cent, is made from v ' le salary of head or sole teachers, or those engaged as assistants, who ore uncertificated. Recognising that many of the young men who proceeded on active service would probably have been able to qualify for a certificate had they not been absent on service abroad, ond in order to assist such returned soldiers, the Minister of Education (Hon. J. A. Hanan) has given instructions that for a period of two years after his return no deduction will be made from the salary of an uncertificated teacher who has been on active service. It is considered that during that period Uicy will have ample lime in which to fl.uo.lify for a certificate.
