DEATH OF A PRISONER
INQUIRY AT AUCKLAND GAOL. By Telegraph—Press Association Auckland, February 15. At an inquiry at the' Auckland Gaol with regard to the death of a prisoner named William White, the three military prisoners declared (hat the light work ordered for deceased was not in his best interests, end that he was not given a diet suitable to his condition. The Raol surgeon and Dr. Williams said they were satisfied that the witnesses had no ground for their statements. The coroner (Mr. Wilson, S.M.) returned a verdict accordingly.
