Tho British offer to Australia comprises six destroyers of tho S class, or, nlternativoly, the destroyer' Lender, and possibly the An»ic, with iivo S destroyers, and six of tho .T class of submarines. Tho vessels were built during tho war period, and are tho largest -and best of their kind. Their size, speed, seagoing quality, and fighting- value arc far in advance of tho Australian destroyers and submarines, and tlioy are considered to be most suitable for the Australian and China station. t The gift brings Bear-Admiral Henderson's scheme of construction to the full strength for 1919. Sir Joseph Cook (Federal Minister for the Navy) states that Australia lias accepted Britain's offer of six destroyers and six submarines of the most modern type, in recognition of tho intimate cooperation of tho Australian and British Navies.—Aus.-N.Z.
