•Yt the last meeting of the Mount Cook School Committee, Mr. Bary, headmaster ol the Hoys' School, reported a considerable increase in the attendance. Last vear closed down with a roll number of 1)58, and the first week of the New Year showed ft roll of. '118. As the examinations could not be held in November last, the passing of the boys from one standard to another was carried out. after consultation wilh the inspector. The resiills are as follow.- ■ Standard Vi.-I'rcenled, II hoys; passed: 25 proficiency. 6 endorsed competency. 7 competency. , Standard V.-7(i, 71 passed. Standard IV.-70. BR passed. Standard 111.-81, 77 pas-sid. Standard 11.-71, iiß passed. Slaiidan! 1.-20, 111 passed. , About one-third of the, boys. gained good attendance certificates, as per to - lowing :-SUindnrd VJ, IB; Standard J, 1 22;.
