SOLDIERS ON THE LAND
WHAT HAS BEEN DONE, By Tolettraph-Press Association. , Invercargill; February 11. Speaking at a complimentary dinne? at Winton, the Hon. D. H. Guthrie stated that the Government had settled eoldiens on about half a million acres at a oost of .£1,006,000. About half a million acres of Maori lands had been acquired and the acquisition of 700,000 more was under consideration. This land was being held absolutely for soldiers, for whom tho Government was doing probably more than any other country. Uy Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, February 11.
