A LABOUR RALLY

LABOUR'S POLITICAL AIMS. A 1 meeting under the auspices of the Labour Party was held in the King's Theatre Inst night, the object being to make preparation for the'coining municipal and local body elections. Mr. H. E. Holland, M.P., was the first speaker. One of .his declarations was'that the fight of the Labour Party at the coming general-elections was to be a fight against the "Tory-Liberal" combination in whatever .form tho organisation might shape itself. JIo said that the Liberals had signed their own death .warrant when they joined the National Government, and" that they must be ranted as the enemies of Labour with-the Tories. ■ Hβ predicted a win for Labour at tho elections. Mrs. Beck spolco of the aim of Labour to capture control of education, first of ■ill by capturing the school committees in order that tho capture of tho boards might follow, seeing that'the committees elected tho boards. She said that one of the reasons for which Labour wished to capture tho schools was to prevent the introduction of militarism into them, and to illustrate the horrors of militarism she told of .how she had seen the dummies on tho bayonet-fighting parade ground at Trentham. Another warning she' gave, was: "You should not think of a. soldier as a man who walks in uniform to the music of .bands; you should tlifiik of tho disgusting things a soldier has to do," meaning obviously the uso of a .bayonet. There wero two soldiers in the gallery, and they went out at this time.' ' Mr. P. Frnser, M.P., spoko of tho class war, and declared that the soldiers' war had been stopped by the class war, by the revolution first in Russia and then in Germany. The-aim of Labour was to win the industries of the world for the workers, and to pet control also by, political action of the Governments of the world. .
