R. Bowman, first; J. Cameron, second; and A. Muir, third. Mr. A. M'Donald is chief engineer. The crew ie ono of 46 hands all told, including four apprentices. The Ardgay ie a jSteel ship of 4593 tone, and was built in January, 1918, for Lang and Fulton, of Groenock, by Russell and' Co., of Glasgow. She is 385 feet long, 52 feet wide, and 26 feet fivo inches deep. Since her construction she has been trading botween England, America, and Mediterranean ports. A paravane or bow defence gear for protection from mines ie fitted on- tho vessel. This invention •ib litilo over a year old. but during' that time it has proved a great success, saving thousands of tons of shipping from destruction. Several of the ship'e company, including Messrs. R. Bowman (first officer) and A. Muir, have been on torpedoed vessels. Mr. R. Bowman has hvico. boen on torpedoed vessels, On the first occasion the ship was in the Atlantic. It was iii mid-winter, and the vessel floated for 14 hours, Beforo being picked up two of the crew died ot exhaustion. Thosecond ship sank in 13 minutes at a spot'loo miles weßt of Gibraltar. The crew were later rescued. There were no : fatalities. ' ■
