THE 1914-15 STAR
WEARING OF THE RIBAND OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT , Authority will shortly be given in a General Order for nil officers, warrant officers, non-commissioned officers, and men of the Expeditionary Force who will bi entitled to the award of the 19H-15 Star to wear the Eiband if they choose to purchase it. Some time must, of • course, necessarily elapso before the Star and Eiband are available in Now Zealand for presentation. Those entitled to wear the Eiband include all officers, war. ran} officers, non-commissioned officers, and men of the Dominion, CololSiul, and Indian Forces, including civilian medical practitioners, .nursing sisters, nurses, and others employed with military hospitals who'actually served on the establishment of a imit in a theatre of mir as defined hereunder, between August 5, 19W, and December 31, 1915, both dates inclusive. The decoration itself is a Star in bronze (similar to the 1914 Star). No clasp will be issued with the Star. The 'Eiband is red, white, and blue, shaded and watered, similar to the 1914 Star. Those entitled to the 19M Star will not be eligible for the 1911-15 Star.
For the purpose of this decoration the theatres of war are as follow:— (a) Western European Theatre.—To include all operations in France and Belgium from midnight, November 22-23, 1914. (b) Balkan Theatre.—To include all operations in: (1) Greek Macedonia, Serbia, and Bulgaria, from Octolwr 5, 1915; and (2) Gallipoli, the Aegean Islands, from April 25, 1915. (c) Egyptian Theatre.—To include all operations against Turco-German forces from November 5, 1914; also operations against Senussite forces in Western Egypt, and omhorders of Cyrenaica, from November 3, 1915, but excluding operations for which the Sultan'e Sudan Medal lie? been awarded.
• (d) African Theatre.—To include ' all ! operations set forth below, but excluding j local military operations against native 1 troons, or rebels: j ■ . (i) In British East Africa, German ! East Africa, Rhodesia, Nyasaland, I Uganda, and African Lakes, from August 20, 1914.. (2) In German South-West Africa and on adjacent borders of Union of South Africa from August 20, 1914, to July 9, 1915. : '■ (3) In Kainerun and on eastern and northern frontiers of Nigeria, from August 24, 1911; and (4) In Togoland, from - August 7, ■lSi4, to/August 26, 1914. (e) Asiatic Theatre.—To include all operations: ■ , (1) In Mesopotamia, "from November G, 1914, and the various smaller operations specified in the order; and (2) Tsing-tau, from September 23, 1914, to November 7, 1914. (f) Australasian Theatre.—To include 'all operations in: (1) German New Guinea and Bismarck Archipelago, ns follow:—(a) , New Britain, from September 11, . 1914, to September 21, 1914; (b) New Ireland, from September 16, 1914, to October 18, 1914; (c) Kaiser WilheUn. Land, oh September 24, 1914; (d) Admiralty Islands, on November 21, 1914. (3) Nauru, on September 6, 1914. (3) German Samoa, on August 29, 1914. ' Rolls showing the names of all memkri of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces entitled to receive this decoration are in course of preparation. In the cnses of deceased officers and other ranks the decoration, when available, will bo handed or eent to the next-qf-kin in the following order of relationship: Widow, eldest surviving son, eldest surviving, daughter, father, mother, eldest surviving brother, eldest surviving sister, eldest surviving half-brother, eldest surviving half-sister.
