EMBARGO UPON IMPORTS
BRITAIN'S ACTION CRITICISED IN AMERICAN SENATE. Wa?hington, February 5. Both Democrats and Republicans in the Senate' criticised the new British embargo upon imports as Laving a depressive effect upon American industry. Senator Lewis, speaking in the Senate, said tho British embargo was likely to cause hostility towards Britain at a time when. President Wilson was abroad endeavouring to promote good relations. Senator Weeks explained that the embargo was. not directed at the United States more than at other countries.
