THE BLACKBALL TROUBLE
SLOW-WORK STRIKE CONTINUES.
The output from the Blackball mine on Wednesday was 24 tons, sn that the slowwork strike is being continued. Information does not travel quickly from the Coast, and little is known about what occurred yesterday. It was reported previously that the Disputes Committee was to meet to consider the dispute, but this was incorrect. The committee did not meet, and no arrangements have been made to refer the dispute to the committee. A general meeting of the union was to have been held, Init no news of the decision of the miners is yet available. Developments may be expected at any time. The Greymouth "Star" reports that the ■Roa mine commenced working last week, after being idle for fourteen weeks. Only eis pairs of men are working on the-.coal. The men are going underground as usual, but no coal is being got out. The management, however, to-day dismissed , a few of the men. The miners have as yet made no move to submit the dispute to the local disputes tribunal. A miners' meetine; is being held tonight, but the result is not yet known. Twenty-one men refuse to resume production on Monday, and the manageaiont intends to notify them that the mine thereafter will be closed down.
